The performance of our supply chain is continually monitored, 97% of our Preferred Status Specialist Contractors achieving 'Good' or better KPI scores in 2009/10.

Based on shared values, effective communications and integrated teamwork, these relationships ensure our commitment to service, quality and technical excellence permeates our projects.

We maintain national and local lists of proven supply chain partners who work with us to deliver innovative services that offer clients better value for money.

The close integration of our supply chain is also central to our approach to sustainability. As well as encouraging its members to use products included on our database of sustainable materials, we work with them to improve resource efficiency by minimising waste, avoiding over-ordering and reducing packaging.

We also work with our supply chain to improve skill levels, promoting lifelong learning, diversity and inclusion for all.

A variety of Key Performance Indicators are used to evaluate our supply chain partners and design consultants including:

• Design (if applicable)
• Programme
• Safety, Health & Welfare
• Environment
• Quality
• Commercial
• Supervision

Results are recorded centrally and detailed performance reports produced, with appropriate action taken where necessary.
