Torness Nuclear Power Station

Construction of the sixth nuclear power station built by the company in the UK started in 1980. The first of the two AGR reactors became operational in 1987 and the main construction contract was completed in 1989. The power station is situated on an 80 hectare promontory on Scotland’s east coast. Site preparation required 2,500,000m3 of excavation and provision of 2km of coastline protection.
