1917 - 1918

British Cellulose Manufacturing Company

During the Great War the company made a considerable contribution to the war effort at home, building many aerodromes and munitions factories. The particular factory in the photograph covers an area of 8 hectares and was built for the treatment of aircraft fabric. The site covered an area of 121 hectares and more than 30 million bricks were used in the development.
