Shell Centre, London
The Shell Centre was built as the central office of the Royal Dutch Shell Group in London. Providing accommodation for 5,000 staff, it is one of the largest office blocks in the UK with a floor area of 186,000m2. Half the volume of the building is below ground level where there are extensive car parking and recreational facilities. At the time the tower block was the highest in London at 27 storeys.
