Glenfinnan Viaduct

This famous viaduct is part of the 64km Fort William to Mallaig extension of the West Highland railway. The 21-arch structure is one of a number of bridges and viaducts constructed along the section of line, all of which were built of concrete. Pioneered by Robert McAlpine, it was the first time this method of construction had been used so extensively for such purposes.
