Redcar's new community hospital provides the people of Teesside with an expanded range of healthcare services.
Constructed in just 18 months under a design and build contract, Redcar Primary Care Hospital provides an inpatient ward with 32 single en-suite bedrooms and houses four GP practices, community services and an outpatients unit.
Additional services include X-ray, ultrasound, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy departments, day theatre and a minor injuries unit.
The 11,000m2, two-storey facility replaces the nearby Stead Primary Care Hospital.
The hospital was delivered under the Private Finance Initiative in joint venture with healthcare solutions provider Ryhurst.
We will be involved in the ongoing maintenance and operation of the facility for the rest of the 30-year concession.
The hospital was named winner of the Award for Best Landscape or External Space at the Building Better Healthcare Awards 2010.
The scheme was also recognised with a Commendation Award from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s Design Award Scheme 2010.
