Operating on a restricted site with limited access, self-climbing tower cranes are being used to construct the 120m high structure.

To meet the specified acoustic requirements within the school’s rehearsal and performance spaces, box in box construction techniques are being used, with lessons learnt on the Kings Place concert hall project applied to the scheme.

To improve safety and keep traffic flowing, we worked with the City of London to implement a one-way system around the site.

Measures to contain noise have ranged from altering the piling methodology in some areas, to working with our subcontractors to implement the use of low-noise equipment.

Sound suppressing acoustic panels have been incorporated into the site hoardings.

The contract builds on our existing relationship with the client for whom we constructed the eight-storey 40-66 Queen Victoria Street office development in the City of London.

The exceptional standard of site management on the project was recognised with a Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence Award from the National House Building Council.

The project was also honoured with a Gold Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards 2012 and a Silver Award in 2011.
