General Information
The National Indoor BMX Centre at Eastlands in Manchester houses a 2,000-seat arena with a column-free 70m by 100m race track, offices for British Cycling, retail and café facilities.
The 10,000m2 centre links to the Manchester Velodrome, the venues together forming the National Cycling Centre.
In addition to the construction of the centre, the project involved the installation of a bridge across the Ashton Canal, major landscaping works and provision of cycleways, footpaths and open public spaces.

Under our cost-effective alternative foundation solution, mass concrete pads rather than piles were used to support the two-storey ‘link’ building and the arena walls.
Eleven 80m trusses support the arena’s 94m long curved Kalzip roof. Too long to be constructed within the confines of the arena site, the trusses were delivered in sections and assembled in the air using four mobile cranes, a method which offered the most economical means of completing the operation.
3,000m3 of excavated clay were reused to build earth mounds for the 7,000m2 BMX track.
