The Quartermile development on the site of Edinburgh’s former Royal Infirmary is one of Scotland’s largest regeneration schemes.
The 19 acre development will see the site’s Victorian listed buildings restored and complemented by a series of new steel and glass structures.
It will provide more than 900 apartments and 40,000m2 of office, retail and leisure space.
In its first use in the UK, a new pre-engineered unitised wall system was installed by our team on the 11-storey Q20 apartment block. The system compressed the installation programme, required minimal labour, accelerated delivery of a virtually watertight building and reduced manual handling.
Our team has been at the heart of this scheme since we started on site in 2006. We continue to work on a series of commercial and residential developments for client Gladedale Ventures.
Our Core management team liaises with the client on new and future projects and carries out the procurement of each through to appointment. We then hand over the projects to the construction team, with continuing support from the Core team as necessary.
The series of contracts we are undertaking at Quartermile builds on our previous work with Gladedale Ventures which includes the successful delivery of the city’s Lochrin Square commercial development.
Hailed as a ‘good ambassador for the construction industry’ the Quartermile project won a Silver Award in the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2008.
