Delivery of this multi-million pound pool complex also included refurbishment of the adjoining leisure centre.
General Information
The stylish new swimming complex at Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham includes a 25m six lane pool, studio pool, fun and splash pools, a fitness suite and café.
This design & build contract included refurbishment of the existing centre which is linked to the new 2,700m2 two-storey extension by a glazed corridor.
The new building is clad in locally sourced brick and features a striking series of mono-pitched roofs.

The pools are protected from direct sunlight by large overhanging eaves formed using solar panels that harness the sun’s energy to help heat the water.
A large biomass boiler uses locally sourced sustainable wood chips from the nearby Kielder Forest.
