Construction of a landmark civic office building is the first part of a wider regeneration programme for Croydon.
General Information
The Public Service Delivery Hub will provide Croydon with a state-of-the-art new civic office building. Located on a brownfield site facing onto Queen’s Gardens, the development will act as a contemporary counterpart to the Grade II Listed Town Hall.
Arranged around a central atrium, the building steps up from five to 13 storeys, large open floors providing flexible office accommodation. Sustainability features include a solar control climate wall, green and brown roofs and grey water harvesting.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) was used to analyse and assess the impact and viability of various value engineering exercises. BIM also significantly improved understanding of some of the complex interfaces on the project and helped ensure these were properly thought through and planned prior to work beginning on site.
As part of our work with the local community we are providing a training suite within a nearby business centre. The facility is used on a daily basis by a local college, with curriculum support at its sessions provided by company staff.
We have consistently exceeded our local employment target of 10%, recording an average of between 15% and 20%, while in support of another of our client’s key drivers, the project team has made a concerted effort to purchase from local suppliers.
All site staff attend a Safety Culture Change training course designed to highlight personal safety and responsibility on site, while training provider Construction Learning World offers English as a Second Language classes for site operatives.
We invited design students from the nearby Brit School to produce a visitors’ guide to the education and training facility we are providing. Images produced by photography students at the school feature in the guide and are being displayed on our site hoardings.
The development won Silver at the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards in 2012 and 2013.
